FAN Action Commissioner of the Quarter
The purpose of the Action Commissioner(s) of the Quarter is to recognize and encourage initiative, industry, and fidelity to the FAN mission. By celebrating the persons in the trenches who animate the spirit of Sts. Francis and Clare, we hope to build morale and provide useful examples of best practices to other Action Commissioners and FAN members.
Third & Fourth Quarter - 2009
FAN is pleased to announce that our Action commissioner for the fourth quarter of 2009 is Sr. Connie Probst, OSF. Sr. Connie is the TOR Commissioner for Region 5, consisting of the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Sr. Connie played an instrumental role in reaching out to her own community - the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Help - and to others associated with their ministries to elicit a strong participation in two major web events sponsored by FAN. In September, FAN sponsored a webinar on health care reform in association with the Catholic Health Association. In October, FAN commemorated the feast month of St. Francis with its first web summit focused on Care for Creation endeavors. Both of these virtual gatherings included sizable groups from the St. Louis, MO area, due in large part to Sr. Connie's dedicated promotion of the events.
Through emails and personal contact, Sr. Connie took the initiative to inform members of her community and other Franciscan-hearted persons about these web conferences and offered space where sizable groups of interested persons could gather as a small group to view these events and participate via the internet in asking questions and engaging with presenters. Her efforts ensured that people were more informed about two major civic engagement initiatives that are the focused activity of FAN and helped to deepen their commitment to the educational and informational opportunities that FAN offers.
Second Quarter - 2009
FAN's 'Action Commissioner of the Quarter' for Q2 FY2009 is Larry Dunphy, OFM. Fr. Larry took initiative in gaining two new institutional members. Larry was among FAN's most active advocates in the Climate Change campaign and in securing a face to face meeting with his congressperson. On behalf of the entire FAN family, congratulations to Larry for embodying the Franciscan spirit.
First Quarter - 2009
FAN's first 'Action Commissioner of the Quarter' for Q1 FY2009 is ... two people, a tie! This quarter, Sr. Miriam Murray, OSF and Sr. Dorothy Moczygemba, CSSF share the honor for timely response to the Action Center's requests for information. Both were among FAN's most active advocates.
