Professed as a member of the Secular Franciscans since 1983, Tom has served since 1988 as a adult ESOL teacher. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Tom received his M.A. in Modern History from Oxford University in 1983 and an M.A. from George Mason University in English / Linguistics in 1993. He has served as a permanent deacon in a variety of capacities in the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia since 1987. He presently serves as National Minister of the Secular Franciscan Order in the United States. He is married with three children. Tom also presently serves as Vice-President of the Board of Directors for FAN.
