What is your connection to the Franciscan Family? Secular Franciscan (since November 21, 2010) - Member of Portiuncula fraternity for 5.5 years Treasurer/Member - Fr. Solanus Casey Sister-Brotherhood international community
How have you been involved in justice, peace, and care for creation, and for how long? My involvement with specifically Franciscan JPIC activities is relatively recent. I first attended FAN training events in the summer of 2011. However, I have repaired homes with the Appalachian Service Project, I have served at Casa Maria House of Hospitality (Catholic Worker House), I have been involved with ecumenical justice and peace initiatives at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Campus ministry, I have contributed to many of the local capuchin ministries, and I have practiced group therapy, team building and leadership development at Rogers Memorial Hospital for six years.
Why did you join FAN? Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation are of supreme importance to me. Opportunities to be contemplative in action have continued to increase with the revolution of social media. I feel uniquely adept at community organizing and I feel that I can bring some disciplined, youthful energy to the causes that FAN advocates on behalf of.
What are you working for in your area? Issues of interest in my area are Immigration Policy, Sustainable living practices, Health Care Reform, Community building, and Economic Justice.
