What is your connection to the Franciscan Family? Secular Franciscan since 2000 having served in leadership positions both on the local and regional levels. I am currently a member of the Brothers and Sisters of St. Francis Region.
How have you been involved in justice, peace, and care for creation, and for how long? I have served as Animator of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City. As peace and justice was the apostolate of the Manhattan Cluster of Seculars, I taught about peace and justice issues and created the Franciscan Servant Leadership Program. I have been involved in peace and justice as long as I have been Roman Catholic - since 1997.
Why did you join FAN? Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation are of supreme importance to me. Opportunities to be contemplative in action have continued to increase with the revolution of social media. I feel uniquely adept at community organizing and I feel that I can bring some disciplined, youthful energy to the causes that FAN advocates on behalf of.
What are you working for in your area? As I am new to the South Carolina area, I am still getting accustomed to things. I look forward to teaching different peace and justice issues in my church, my fraternity and my community - to start!
